The Bands:
REBEL REBEL
Bowie fans playing Bowie for Bowie fans.
"Sounds uncannily like David Bowie in good form."
Tony Clayton Lea, the Irish Times.
"Rebel Rebel" are The David Bowie Experience: A fully live 6 piece band faithfully recreating the most popular songs from Bowie’s extensive back catalogue. The band themselves are fans and have a deep respect for the man and his music. The set for this show is built on Bowie's most loved and enduring songs and the band have worked hard at re- creating the sound and look of a David Bowie concert. Rebel Rebel cover Bowie's hits from 1969 right up to present day.
Lead singer Peter Quinn has always had his voice compared to Bowie’s. “I released an album of original material in 1999 and it was instantly compared to Bowie. It was something I had been told from the time I cut my first demo tape, so when I was looking for a new project a Bowie tribute was the obvious direction.”
The band are made up of some of the finest session musicians in the country, it’s members having previously played with an array of Ireland’s top artists including; Sinead O’Connor, Clannad, Gavin Friday, Jack L, Brian Kennedy, Lesley Garrett, The Irish Tenors, The RTE Concert Orchestra, Brian Downey and Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy).

The Cause:
North West Hospice at a glance
North West Hospice - Our CommunityIn 1986, Claire Campbell, a social worker in the North West of Ireland, identified the need for specialist care to support people with cancer and their families. She set up a number of support groups in the community and the North West Hospice service was founded. Over time, the need for this specialist approach, called palliative care, increased. Thanks to ongoing community support and fundraising efforts, North West Hospice has been to the forefront of palliative care in Ireland. We were the first to provide community palliative care on a 7 day a week basis and in 1998 we opened our specialist Inpatient care facility.
Our service
We are a local charity dedicated to helping people with life limiting illness improve their quality of life and find relief from symptoms, pain and stress. To do this we provide a full range of consultant-led specialist palliative care services for those living in Sligo, Leitrim and South Donegal.
The North West Hospice team
Creating and sustaining our services requires the involvement and dedication of many people.
Our staff are focused on delivering the highest standards of palliative care to our patients and their families. They are specialists in their area of expertise and provide the services required to run our 8 bed hospice, our community service and our service in Sligo Regional Hospital.
Volunteers are an essential part of our success and we are very fortunate to have such enthusiastic voluntary support from our community. Volunteers play a major role in raising the funds which support our work. They volunteer in our premises, our community and serve on the North West Hospice Board of Directors. They are the foundations on which the organisation is built.
Funding
It costs us €2 million to run our services each year. We receive €1 million through voluntary donations and fundraising and €1million from the HSE.
