“FRIDAY NIGHT” is 2012 X-Factor runner-up, Jason Owen’s second offering following from the hugely successful # 5 ARIA debut album “Life Is A Highway”. Released on the 6th March 2015, Jason will embark on a National Tour commencing 6th March around the country with his fire-power band performing hits from X-Factor, his debut album and this his 2nd album “Friday Night”.
The first ‘original’ song and lead-in single “Damn Right” was released in August 2014 and immediately hit the Itunes Charts, reaching #2 on the Country “Hot Tracks & Top Songs” and remaining high in the charts for the next 10 weeks. At this time, Jason also hit the road in his ute along with guitarist and travelled 10,000 kms along the East Coast promoting the single with over 50 radio station and media interviews across 5 weeks, cementing Jason as an Artist in his own right that’s serious about his music and performing it live in any format possible.
It’s Jason charismatic and energetic live performances that garnered him a legion of National fans of all ages that drove him into the Top 2 on the X-Factor. Jason carried this love of live performance in 2013 and 2014 touring with label-‐mate and award winning country artist, Amber Lawrence notching up over 40 shows around the country promoting the debut album ‘Life Is A Highway’ which also received a Golden Guitar nomination for “Highest Selling Country Album”, not bad for a debut artist.
Jason re-entered the studio in May 2014 again with hit producer Bry Jones (Shannon Noll, Guy Sebastien, Anthony Callea, Damien Leith) to record FRIDAY NIGHT, but this time round, there was a deliberate focus on finding a couple of smash hit originals that Jason could make his own, which came about by one of Australia’s most successful songwriters, Adam Reily with ‘Damn Right’ and ‘Tears on Fire’. In addition the album features remakes of classics such as ‘This Ole House’ (Shakin Stevens), ‘I Won’t Back Down’ (Tom Petty), ‘Last Train To Clarksville’ (The Monkees), ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ (Queen), ‘Wanted’ (Hunter Hayes(‘, I’m On Fire’ (Bruce Springsteen), ‘Call Me The Breeze’ (JJ Cale) and the Elvis hit ‘That’s Alright’.
