A native of Philadelphia, now based in Nashville, Lizanne Knott has built a growing audience, both in the States and in the UK, for her sultry brand of Americana.
Building on the Blues and Jazz Roots from earlier in her career, her fourth album, released in 2016 entitled “Excellent Day” is an enticing Stew of the Mississippi Delta, New Orleans and vintage Nashville.
The album includes covers of a Blues classic, a Janice Ian song, a smoky reading of the Gershwin classic, “It Ain’t Necessarily So”, as well as a cover of Stolen Car by Bruce Springsteen.
The remaining songs on Excellent Day are all self-penned, covering the whole repertoire of Lizanne’s songwriting, which has made her a favourite choice of the Bob Harris programme on BBC Radio 2.
Lizanne accompanies herself on guitar and will be joined at Montrose Folk Club, on guitar and backing vocals, by Glenn Barratt, twice a Grammy Award winner as a Record Producer.
