A pastor’s daughter from Regina, Dione Taylor began playing the organ at age four and by age 10 was the music director and organist at the Shiloh Assembly Apostolic Church. Nominated for a 2005 JUNO for Best Jazz Vocal Album and for a Gemini award for her rendition of Oscar Peterson’s “Hymn to Freedom,” Dione has an established a career as a jazz singer. But her latest release, Born Free, brings Dione back to the music of her youth – southern gospel and delta blues.
