Moonshine District
Moonshine District plays their own brand of high energy mountain music blending bluegrass, old time, funk, punk, soul, and all kinds of folk music. It's hard to peg their music in one specific genre. Moonshine District makes music as it comes to them honestly. They try to respect traditional mountain music while letting their influences shine through. Moonshine District is based out of Lexington, Ky, but are from all over Kentucky and Southwestern Virginia. The bands three primary song writers grew up in small mountain towns and their stories are echoed throughout the music they make.
Moonshine District spends most of their time on the road traveling from Central Appalachia to Upstate New York, Indiana, Chicago, and all over playing festivals and anywhere people gather to enjoy music. This Summer they will be playing with well known names such as Greensky Bluegrass, Greg Allman, Nahko Bear, and Railroad Earth at Floyd Fest in Floyd, Virginia.
