Third Coast Kings
The Third Coast Kings are a proper deep funk and soul outfit. In the tradition of sixties and seventies funk groups, the Kings detonate with an explosive sonic force that is guaranteed to make you move. Their gritty sound is a raw concoction of horn driven hooks, devastating rhythm and an overall tightness that has made them a favorite in the Metro Detroit area. They draw influence from the many artists whose music was carefully salvaged by the crate digging revolution. The Kings make it a point to remain true to the style and technique of playing proper deep funk and soul.

The Soul Magnetics
Releasing their demo tracks earlier this year via Bandcamp, The Soul Magnetics are a new band out of Asheville, NC moving audiences through early 1960's means. The demo, craft-fully entitled 'Demo 2013' is a short, punchy release displaying sounds reminiscent of James Brown's "In the Jungle Groove" and The Meters "Chicken Strut." The Magnetic's present a clear emphasis on writing catchy, groovy music using early R&B/funk rhythms and tones.
Though a young group, The Soul Magnetics have made good headway into the scene rocking parties and smaller venues throughout Western NC. Keeping it old fashioned in 2013, the boys are a whiskey on the rocks, skinny tie sporting bunch. Guitarist Andy Link notes that playing live to them is all about keeping the crowd moving and having a good time.
"Demos 2013" is available free for download via their Bandcamp page, and The Soul Magnetics are currently writing for their debut LP release.
