One may indentify Jannis Siopis as the former Silversurfer from Crosstown Rebels, a rather raw, dark and mysterious lad in his early days. His roots derive from a traditional Greek background in a modern German setting.
A classical love affair with his clarinet and trumpet later coincided with his creative talent for breakdancing, graffiti art and spinning records, ultimately, landing him DJ gigs in small underground clubs in Germany.

A classical love affair with his clarinet and trumpet later coincided with his creative talent for breakdancing, graffiti art and spinning records, ultimately, landing him DJ gigs in small clubs in Germany.
In 1997 he moved to Berlin, where his musical career was launched into full swing. His unmatched DJ sets were part of the soundtrack of the uprising electronic music metropolis. Siopis' stages were underground clubs and Illegal off-location parties in east Berlin.
In 2003 it was time for the next step. Missing real special sounds in his dj bag, he wanted to fill this gap by creating his own music. Years of impressions & melting profoundly with Berlins nightlife made his creativity arouse very quickly in the studio. After only 3 months in the studio his very first track "Welcome to Berlin" was born. It immediately hit the electronic music scene in its core and became an anthem for the city.
Causing worldwide a stir amongst many recognized artists and labels, Damian Lazarus was one of the first who picked up on this uprising talent. A Silversurfer production became Crosstown Rebels' first release.
In the following years he toured all around the world playing in more than 30 different countries at venues like Fabric London, Back to Basics in Leeds and Space Ibiza. His DJ Sets and Live Acts with Kiki set a unique brandmark on the electronic music landscape.
In 2008 he felt the need for a time-out. The mexican jungle provided the perfect environment for this.
Living there insulated for several months he connected deeply with nature and himself. Awakening new creative energy led him to the decision to start a new project: SIOPIS.
Returning to Berlin he had several successful releases such as "Penny from the Lane" & "Really love ya" on Get Physical and the recently released Masterplan EP on Crosstown Rebels' offshooting label Rebellion.
Currently he is working on new material for Get Physical and Crosstown Rebels next to taking care of his own imprint MANGALI.
